NCERT Solutions For Class 7 Maths Chapter 10 Practical Geometry Exercise 10.1

Class 7, Maths, Chapter 10, Exercise 10.1 Solutions

Q.1. Draw a line, say AB, take a point C outside it. Through C, draw a line parallel to AB using ruler and compasses only.

Ans: Steps for construction

NCERT Solutions For Class 7 Maths Chapter 10 Practical Geometry Exercise 10.1 Q.1

(a) Draw a line-segment AB and take a point C outside AB.

(b) Take any point D on AB and join C to D.

(c) With D as centre and take any radius, draw an arc cutting AB and CD.

(d) With C as centre and same radius as in step 3, draw an arc PR cutting CD.

(e) With the same arc xy, draw the equal arc cutting PR at Q.

(f) Join QC to draw a line EF.

This the required line AB||EF.

Q.2. Draw a line l. Draw a perpendicular to l at any point on l. On this perpendicular choose a point X, 4 cm away from l. Through X, draw a line m parallel to l.

Ans: Steps for construction

NCERT Solutions For Class 7 Maths Chapter 10 Practical Geometry Exercise 10.1 Q.2

  1. Draw a line L.
  2. Take any point A on line ‘l’.
  3. At point A, draw a perpendicular line.
  4. Place the pointed tip of the compass at A and adjust the compass up to length of 4 cm, draw an arc to cut this perpendicular at point X.
  5. At point X, again draw a perpendicular line m.

Q.3. Let l be a line and P be a point not on l. Through P, draw a line m parallel to l. Now join P to any point Q on l. Choose any other point R on m. Through R, draw a line parallel to PQ. Let this meet l at S. What shape do the two sets of parallel lines enclose?

Ans:

Steps of construction:

NCERT Solutions For Class 7 Maths Chapter 10 Practical Geometry Exercise 10.1 Q.3

(i) Draw a line l and take a point P outside of l

(ii) Take point Q on line / and join PQ.

(iii) Make equal angle at point P such that ∠Q = ∠P.

(iv) Now, extend line at P to get line m.

(v) Then take any point R on line m.

(vi)At point R draw angle such that ∠P = ∠R

(vii)At point R extend line which intersects line l at S and draw a line RS. Thus, we get parallelogram PQRS.
