Integers are the numbers that can be positive, negative, or zero, numbers . It is the collection of numbers will look like 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,…, –1, – 2, – 3, –4, –5, … and this collection of numbers is known as Integers. In this collection, 1, 2, 3, … are said to be positive integers and – 1, – 2, – 3,…. are said to be negative integers. The use of integers is used to express our day-to-day situations in Mathematical terms.
Let say,
(i) if increase in weight is represented by positive integer then decrease by negative integers.
(ii) If profit is a positive integer then losses will be represented by negative integers.
(iii) if 100 m above sea level is represented by +100 then below the sea level is represented by -100.
Similarly, if we move right to the zero, we get positive integers and to the left we get negative integers.
